The scholarly history and review by Dominique-René de Lerma of the opera Troubled Island reference "A mural, twenty-four feet long, adorns the wall of 2520 West View Street in Los Angeles, painted by Noni Olabisi and Charles Freeman, commissioned by the Cultural Affairs Office of the city. Depicting the Haitian Revolution, Olabisi has portrayed William Grant Still right in the middle of the work."

At the time, James Burks was the director at the William Grant Still Art Center. On August 3, 2003, I organized William Grant Still vocal and piano music for the outdoor dedication and reception. Evangeline Seward (piano) and Carol Allen (soprano) performed selections including “Tis Sunset in the Garden” from Troubled Island. Judith Still, daughter of William Grant Still, attended the dedication and reception. Please see http://muralconservancy.org/murals/troubled-island
