Duke Ellington and Detroit Symphony
Paragraph 15 of the Duke Ellington page at AfriClassical.com says this about Duke Ellington, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Chandos:
“The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, led by Neeme Järvi, Conductor, has recorded three of Ellington's works for symphony orchestra on CDs released by the British label Chandos. Harlem, Suite from "The River" and Solitude are found on Chandos 9909 (2001). Suite from "The River" also appears on an earlier disc, Chandos 9154 (1993). Harlem is also found on Chandos 9226 (1993).”

Chandos Records tells us at Chandos.net that Duke Ellington's Solitude (3:57) was “transcribed for strings by Morton Gould” and its tempo marking was “Slowly, with expession.” Neeme Järvi conducted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's recording on 12 January 1992. Interestingly, the Associate Producer was Leslie B. Dunner, now a prominent conductor.
