CBMR: British Library Has “complete set of 'Five Negro Melodies' published in 1906” by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor

[Samuel Coleridge-Taylor]

AfriClassical recently posted a research inquiry from a European visitor to AfriClassical.com. A reply has been made by Suzanne Flandreau, Head Librarian and Archivist of the Center for Black Music Research (CBMR) at Columbia College Chicago:

“I saw your request about the C-T 'Five Negro Melodies' sent to Bill Zick’s AfriClassical blog.

“I checked OCLC WorldCat, a comprehensive union catalog of library holdings, and very few libraries have the complete set of 'Five Negro Melodies' published in 1906. There does seem to be a complete set at the British Library, and your best option is probably to order photocopies from them.

"If you would like information about libraries that hold individual pieces, please contact me directly.
Suzanne Flandreau"
