Rick Robinson: Classical Revolution Detroit Performs 'Martin Luther King Day Tribute' at Majestic Cafe

[Rick Robinson]

AfriClassical has recently posted news of Rick Robinson, the double bassist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and his founding of Classical Revolution Detroit, an affiliate of the group founded in San Francisco in 2006 to introduce classical music performances to bars, restaurants and other public gathering places not traditionally identified with the genre.

“Following the success of the kickoff week events, Classical Revolution Detroit returns to the Majestic Cafe with its subtle elegance, rotating artwork and full bar (top photo), paying tribute to slain civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will feature several works by Black composers, Negro spirituals, and a few of my own as read by the CutTime String Quartet with John Madison and James Greer, a woodwind quintet led by Lynne Marie Flegg, and an eclectic string quartet led by Nancy Chaklos Millen. Other readings will surely follow.”

Congratulations and many sessions to come. As a member and co-producer of the Classical Revolution here in the Nations Capital, Washington, D.C. I share the blessings we all have benefited from the struggle of our forbearers.
We in our aspirations through the universal language of music have taken the greatest strides toward uniting humanity and our fellows citizens.
We bare witness o this in every performance we strive for. Raycurt.com
