Pianist Claire Detels Performs Florence B. Price's 'Sonata in E Minor,' Fayetteville, Ark. March 23

This year’s Goddess Festival piano recital will feature the music of 'Two Great Women Composers: Clara Schumann and Arkansas’s own Florence Price.' The evening will include Price’s bravura Sonata in E Minor and Clara Schumann’s 'Witches’ Dance' and 'Fleeting Vision' among other colorful character pieces.

Pianist-Musicologist Claire Detels is Prof. Emerita with the UA Music Dept (where she taught from 1982-2008), Collaborative Pianist at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Fayetteville, and piano teacher at the Suzuki School of Music. She currently offers programs through the Arkansas Artists on Tour and Mid-America Arts Alliance, specializing in music of women and African-American composers.

Pianist-Musicologist Claire Detels (UA Emerita) will present a piano recital entitled "Two Great Women Composers: Clara Wieck-Schumann and Arkansas's own Florence Price.” This recital is in conjunction with the 2010 Fayetteville Goddess Festival and Women's History Month.
