Pianist Brian Marks on ULM Recital Monday: '...it was good to talk to you about Still's music.'

[Africa: Piano Music of William Grant Still; Denver Oldham, piano; Koch 3 7084 2H1 (1991)]

Yesterday AfriClassical posted “Vangelisti & Marks Perform Songs of William Grant Still at U. of Louisiana at Monroe Oct. 12.” In an interview, Dr. Brian Marks, a pianist at Baylor University, explained that he and Dr. Claire Vangelisti are scheduled to present a recital at 7:30 pm Monday, Oct. 12 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where Claire Vangelisti is on the Music faculty. She is a lyric soprano who has been performing a program of songs of George Friderick Handel, Richard Strauss, Alban Berg and William Grant Still with Brian Marks. The Monroe recital will be the pair's third on a tour of five universities.

Today we received a comment by email from Dr. Brian Marks:
“Hello Bill,
Thanks for contacting me and for the opportunity to publicize our program! I've really enjoyed the opportunity to learn and perform these pieces and it was good to talk to you about Still's music. Best, Brian” [William Grant Still (1895 -1978) is profiled at AfriClassical.com, where a complete Works List by Dr. Dominique-René de Lerma is also found]
